Stately Speakers (Toastmasters International Club 818502) provides its members the opportunity to develop and improve their public speaking and leadership abilities via local club meetings, training seminars and speech contests.

Stately Speakers meets at the U.S. Department of State at 2201 C Street NW, Washington, DC. The room number will be announced each week before the meeting time and is included in the Club Calendar (public) and the Duty Roster (members only).

Membership is restricted to Department of State employees and those who have access to the Department of State building without requiring an escort, or those who have a sponsor with escort privileges willing to serve as an escort. Directions to rooms are in the Directions folder.

Whether you're speaking to an Assistant Secretary, your boss, colleagues from another government agency, your customers, your co-workers or even your kids, Toastmasters can help you do it better. You'll learn and practice in a friendly, comfortable environment with people who are there for the same reason you are—to become better communicators.

At Toastmasters, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. Our club usually has 15 to 20 people at our weekly meetings lasting about an hour.

At each meeting there are opportunities for everyone to practice conducting meetings, giving impromptu speeches, presenting prepared speeches, and offering constructive evaluation.
