Where Are We?

As often as possible, we hold Stately Speakers meetings in the conference rooms in the 1100, 1200, or 1400 corridors of the Harry S Truman (HST) building of the State Department. The HST building is located between C and D Streets NW and between 21st and 23rd Streets NW.

The shuttles between annex buildings and HST drop passengers off at the D Street entrance.

To reach the conference rooms from the D Street entrance, take the escalator to the left of the entrance down to the 1st floor, follow the 8th corridor away from the cafeteria to the 3rd corridor, turn left and follow the 3rd corridor to the end and turn right at the "2" corridor. Rooms 1207 and 1205 are on the right before the corridor ends. Rooms 1105 and 1107 are along the "1" corridor, at the end of the "2" corridor.

When it is not possible to reserve one of the HST conference rooms, we will try to reserve a room in one of the nearby annexes, such as SA-1 (on E Street NW), SA-2, or SA-3 (on Virginia Avenue NW).

Map of SA-1 location The usual room we use in SA-1, the Columbia Plaza building at 2401 E Street NW, is Room 1405A, on the 14th floor in the Office of Language Services. You may enter SA-1 from E street on the 2nd floor or from the Columbia Plaza level on the 3rd floor. To reach the 14th floor, use the High Rise building elevator bank. Room 1405A is on the side labeled "Interpreters."

Maps below show the location of the State Annex buildings in Washington, DC as well as the relative location of the Annex buildings to HST and SA-1. Note that the green lines on each of the maps show the driving route between the two buildings. Walking routes are often much shorter.

Map of SA-44 location Shuttles run between SA-44 and HST on the hour and half hour. SA-44 is one block from the Federal Center SW Metro station.
