Sharing Our Lessons Learned

As individual Stately Speakers members gain experience from taking part in meetings, they willingly share the lessons they learned with colleagues.  Our emphasis is on a safe and pleasant environment in which to learn to speak confidently and informatively.

All speeches are evaluated using the "sandwich technique" i.e. a tiny bit of criticism sandwiched between deserved praise.  For beginners we praise getting up there in the first place and reserve most criticism.  More advanced speakers get criticism while being evaluated on what was positive as well.

Evaluation is done by club members and evaluation is also criticised.  Club members learn to evaluate to influence progress.  Criticism for the sake of criticism or to cut someone to "size" is neither condoned nor tolerated.

See the sections below on Toastmasters.Org and the Articles for more information on the Toastmasters Organization and also some good information on public speaking.
